Due to overwhelming demand, Natalia Lafourcade has added a second date, September 21, at San Jose Civic as part of her ‘Cancionera Tour,” her most extensive North American run since 2018. The previously announced September 20 date at San Jose Civic is sold out. The acclaimed Mexican artist (@NataliaLafourcade), begins her tour April 24 in in Xalapa, the city Natalia proudly regards as her home and will perform in many of the most beautiful concert halls across the U.S. and Canada.
Tickets for the September 21 show are available via Ticketmaster, Friday, March 7, at 10AM.
Natalia will debut a new show with intimate arrangements as she reinterprets her classic hits and introduces new songs. "I've been dreaming for a while of returning to the stage in a different way, perhaps more intimate or closer to my audience," she shares. "My wish is to share the intimacy I experience with my songs in my room. In my home, in my personal universe, or in my own imagination."
Her recently released single "Cancionera" is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Bruno Bancalari. The piece reveals Natalia's artistic alter ego, La Cancionera. La Cancionera is a figure that embodies the essence of music as a bridge between the intimate and the universal. Natalia’s Cancionera is not just a troubadour—she is a wandering spirit, a voice that travels through the night with an air of mystery. She dwells in the twilight, singing for those who find in music a way to exist beyond convention. She represents duality: light and shadow, tradition and transgression, sweetness and rebellion.
"This song sings to childhood, to the journey, to life, to the 'why' and 'for what'," Natalia shares. "It sings to that something we should never allow to fade within us. The song came to me one morning before my 40th birthday, speaking to me about the importance of being, of existing in this world and in my own world, walking my truth—without fear, without repressing anything. Expressing feelings through free singing, free dancing, or whatever I have at hand, like a red bird, like a hummingbird unafraid to live, unafraid to show who I truly am."
Natalia co-produced "Cancionera" with Adan Jodorowsky who worked with her on her recent GRAMMY-winning album 'De Todas Las Flores.' "On this record, we went even further than in 'De Todas las Flores,'" Jodorowsky told Rolling Stone. "We had 18 musicians playing together with Natalia in a live setting. There are no tricks, no contrivances of any kind. Natalia is fun, she is deep, she embraces the spirit of punk – all at the same time. Since 'De Todas las Flores,' I feel that she finally got to know her own voice. She has connected with a mystical, spiritual energy. It’s almost like sorcery.”
In "Cancionera," Natalia embarks on a sonic journey where tradition and innovation intertwine in a dialogue that honors her roots while exploring new dimensions of her artistry. This marks a turning point in her career, signaling a return to the intimacy of her voice and guitar, yet with an openness to a sonic universe that amplifies her message.
The new single follows her recent release "Amor Clandestino (Acústica)," featuring a collaboration with flamenco icons Israel Fernández (vocals) and Diego del Morao (guitar).
