Natalia Lafourcade

Acclaimed Mexican artist Natalia Lafourcade (@NataliaLafourcade) is adding two performances at the Dolby Theatre, September 16 and 17, as part of her ‘Cancionera Tour,’ her most extensive North American run since 2018. The tour takes her just announced upcoming album, Cancionera, on the road and launches April 24 in Xalapa, the city Natalia proudly regards as her home. She is set to perform in many of the most beautiful concert halls across the U.S. and Canada, including previously announced stops at San Jose Civic, Saturday, September 20, BAM Opera House (Brooklyn), Chicago Theatre, Kennedy Center (DC), and more.

Natalia’s tour will debut a new show with intimate arrangements as she reinterprets her classic hits and introduces new songs. "I've been dreaming for a while of returning to the stage in a different way, perhaps more intimate or closer to my audience," she shares. "My wish is to share the intimacy I experience with my songs in my room. In my home, in my personal universe, or in my own imagination." 

The album Cancionera, which was announced on March 25, was recorded in one take on analog tape and was produced by Adan Jodorowsky. The album presents original songs including the recently released title track "Cancionera." The single is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Bruno Bancalari, and reveals Natalia's artistic alter ego, La Cancionera. La Cancionera is a figure that embodies the essence of music as a bridge between the intimate and the universal.

Of the inspiration for the new album, Natalia evokes her home state of Veracruz, “The Veracruz culture has deeply influenced the way I understand music. In this new album, that influence manifests in rhythms and the poetics of its lyrics.”
