CITY NATIONAL GROVE OF ANAHEIM CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT
City National Grove of Anaheim will kick-off the venue’s yearlong 20th anniversary celebration on Friday, January 18th with multi-platinum selling rock band STYX. In 1999, Styx was the debut headliner at Anaheim's newest music venue, which aimed to blend contemporary acoustics with a hint of Art Deco elegance. Since then, the venue has hosted thousands of world-renowned artists, been a top ranked venue in the country, and one of Orange County’s must-play destinations.
“It’s been two decades since we first performed at the City National Grove of Anaheim. We’ve enjoyed performing there many times, including the one time that Don Felder joined us on stage,” said James “JY” Young, co-founding guitarist/vocalist of STYX. “The audiences are always enthusiastic and we have nothing but fond memories at the venue.”
Since opening, City National Grove of Anaheim has hosted over 2.3 million fans, sold more than $45 million in gross ticket sales, donated over 10,000 tickets to local charities, ranked No. 80 out of the Top 200 venues worldwide by Pollstar Magazine and, in 2018, was named “Orange County’s Favorite Live Music Venue.” From concerts to comedy, family shows to Broadway productions, the City National Grove of Anaheim presents over 250 live and special events annually and has hosted the OC Music Awards and Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game after-party.
“Over 20 years, City National Grove of Anaheim has become a standout venue in the market and is alive with activity,” said Alex Hodges, CEO of Nederlander Concerts. “We applaud our seasoned team who provide unique experiences for the artists and their fans of all ages and are thrilled with our City of Anaheim partnership. We are committed to bringing more diversity, more live entertainment, and more special events to the venue and the community.”
Nederlander Concerts became the exclusive manager, operator, and programmer of the venue in 2002. Over the years, Nederlander Concerts has secured a multi-year naming rights agreement with City National Bank, brought Broadway productions to the versatile 1,700 capacity venue and presented such legendary artists as Prince, Willie Nelson, Stevie Nicks, Glen Campbell, Jackson Browne, Julio Iglesias, Ray Charles and Brian Wilson, to name just a few.
Nederlander Concerts has also presented hot acts like Panic! At the Disco, Iration, Pentatonix, Why Don’t We and All Time Low, brought to the venue live podcasts #IMOMSOHARD and My Favorite Murder, plus digital stars Miranda Sings, Lilly Singh, Lindsey Stirling, Straight No Chaser and Digitour.
